ABOUT
SPEAKING TRUTH
Jillian Rabideau is an 18-year-old spoken word artist from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas and is currently pursuing an Honors B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies at UT Arlington. Inspired by YouTube videos of other poets, she began writing in middle school as a way to healthily cope with issues many teenagers face such as depression, stress, and love. When she was 16 she started working with the non-profit organization Dallas Youth Poets. She has been on their 2017, 2018, and 2019 slam teams and has been the team captain for 2018 and 2019. She currently helps the organization facilitate open mics, workshops, and slams. She currently has a YouTube channel where she posts poems and poetry related content that boasts 15,000 subscribers and over 500,000 channel views. In January, she published her first book "All the Ways We Take Up Space" and sold over 200 copies in its first month of publication. This year, she will continue to do work with Dallas Youth Poets as well as Dallas Poetry Slam and will begin to do work with TEDx. She will also continue to slam in both youth and adult competitions across America.
